APRIL 27 - 30, 2017 IN JASPER, ALBERTA
The call for proposals for sessions for the 2017 conference has now closed. We will be putting out a call for posters soon.
LIBRARIES: MORE THAN EVER!
Libraries are branching out further than the printed word. While books are still our bread and butter, some public libraries have decided to be a bit more creative in what they offer. For example, Sudbury Public Library lends out fishing rods and tackle, Toronto Tool Library is offering a wide selection of donated power tools, Edmonton Public Library offers clothing and support services to the city's homeless and Kitchener Public Library recently became the first Canadian library to loan mobile wi-fi hotspots to their library card holders. Academic libraries are taking the lead on research data management, journal impact measures, open access and other ways to engage researchers and students, and are bringing puppies into the library to help students with exam stress. Libraries really are doing “more than ever.” And in these times of economic and social crisis, libraries are truly needed more than ever! We’re looking for new ideas about the broad range of events, services and materials that keep people coming through library doors.
